"I was initially apprehensive about how tedious it would be to sort waste and then store it. I thought it would be messy and stinky and unhygienic. I was in for a pleasant surprise during the entire process. There is absolutely no unpleasant odour from the kambha, no mess and absolutely no hard work. All it needs is some tender love and care"

Letters from our customers
Dear Poonam ma'am,
Last Monday morning, Lisa Bjerke gave me a pleasant visit :) She is a 2013 graduate of College of the Atlantic (http://www.coa.edu) in Maine, US; and has been awarded a Watson Fellowship for a year (August 1, 2013 – July 31, 2014). With the support of the Watson Foundation she will be visiting Germany, India, Bangladesh, and China to explore composting in different cultural and environmental contexts.
After finishing three months in Germany, she arrived in India recently. In Germany she interned with the compost quality laboratory Plancotec Laboratory (http://www.plancotec.de/), visited 15 compost plants in the Hessen area, worked with the compost and communication consultant firm Humus und Erde Kontor (http://www.humus-erden-kontor.de), and volunteered on recycling and compost projects with the local Transition Town Movement.
She spent three weeks in New Delhi, working with Chintan, a non-profit organization focusing on inclusive, sustainable, equitable growth for all (http://www.chintan-india.org). She learnt about the work of the informal sector in New Delhi’s waste management efforts, and helped Chintan in conducting interviews for a project on New Delhi’s solid waste management policy.
She visited me to understand my passion for composting and also interviewed me as a stakeholder for Delhi's upcoming waste management policy. How could I have not shown her our beloved compost pots? I gave her a small demo on the procedure and obviously she was very impressed with the working of the system.
Am sending you our happy picture with the pots :D
Warm Regards,
Rozita
Hello Poonam,
I had come to your outlet the other day and told you about my visit to the Museum of Design, Copenhagen. Sorry for the delay in sending the picture. Now I wish I had taken a better one.
But let me tell you that it made me so proud to see your name and your work along with all the other exhibits featuring extraordinary work by individuals to improve conditions in their countries. Congratulations and thank you for the work that you are doing.
Warm regards,
Reena
Hi Vinita,
I have started my composting yesterday and did some painting on the composter too. Thought to share with you. I'm already a member of the terrace garden group .... didn't know about the GKVK ... will check it soon!
Thanks for your help!
Ipsita
Hi,
We bought the Kambha last week and started using it after a bit of painting.
It is yet early to get the finished product, but the unit has got the attention of the neighbours.
We have been busy giving details! Attached is a photograph of the painted version.
Regards,
Vasundhara Raju
Dear Poonam,
Last year, in the month of October my entire family was down with "viral" fever and were hospitalized. The agonizing time that I spent in the hospital forced me to slow down and look at the quality of our life in city. Once I was discharged from the hospital, I noticed that the neighbours around me were afflicted with similar "viral" fever with similar symptoms. This was around the time when there was continuous days of rain and the garbage pile were not cleared by pourakarmikas, probably due to continuous holidays.
While my initial thought was weather change attributing to ailment, I was convinced that it was the garbage was decomposting anaerobically that was spreading ill-health in the absence of sunlight.
There used to be a time when homes in our city used to be welcomed prominently by beautiful symmetrical rangoli. These days, we also notice a spot near our gates where the entire household garbage is aggregated :( and kept aside for the pourakarmikas to take away. If pourakarmikas dont take away that waste, you can imagine the stench in the air!
Unavailability of sunlight, continuous rain and pile of garbage probably created a suitable environment for diseases to spread through vectors.
Once I was back home from the hospital, I started to look at workable solutions to manage household waste. Dailydump seemed to be listed on all the search keywords that I looked at. After going through an "encyclopedia" of information on composting from your website, I met Santosh at your office. He reinforced my confidence on the composting system by asking few questions and suggesting the right composter that could do the job for us.
While I started segregating the kitchen waste for the composter, it was only after I adopted the 2bin1bag method that focus became even more stronger on recycling and reducing the rejects that go to landfill.
You have a staff that is extremely helpful and the booklet that you provided at the start of my composting journey was extremely useful. Very... very well composed to allay any fears along the journey.
I "harvested" my first batch of compost. The earthy smell of the compost is divine!
I am sharing a picture of my compost harvest... Composting is easy and fun... something that all city dwellers should start getting engaged in.
Before we follow any celebrity and take to the streets with a broom, we could simply ask ourselves this question - Did I segregate the waste at source & compost the kitchen waste today ! Our world will be a much... much cleaner & healthier place, if all of us had "Yes" for an answer :)
Thank you for all the research and priceless work that you have put into this subject, "compost-walli" !
Bobby Samuel
