Good news from Goa

Our Goa clone is happy and willing to share this information with everybody . This is an email written to us by Yogita Mehra, our clone in Goa. Good luck Yogita and our wishes to you to keep up the good work.

The Majorda Panchayat is in the process of ordering another 25 Bada Khambas (we'd sent 25 to another forum in the same village in November)...this was at the Village Gram Sabha which is held on Goa Liberation Day (19th Dec).

The panchayat will give these to residents at subsidised costs aided by a generous donor.

Here's a photo of the Panchayat members with their Khambas...

More when we have confirmed things with them...

Wishing all of you a great Chirstmas and lots more composting in 2010!!

Daily Dump Kambha makes a guest appearance in the Environment snippets at TCS
27.11.2009

Meera Rajesh shares the images of the environment snippets sent out to employees at TCS , Bangalore. The Environment Focus group at TCS has been sending out snippets every week, through which they share some simple environment related tips. Last week's focus was on waste management and our Kambha featured in the section on what can be done to the wet waste generated at home.

We need more "green people" like Meera and her enthusiastic colleagues, to spread awareness about what each one can do to tackle household waste at source.

The Kambha makes its presence felt in Secunderabad
25.11.2009

Mr Sudhakar from Green Tel Foundation, put up an exclusive stall at Hotel Tech Expo recently held in Secunderabad. He intends to further promote daily dump composting in Hyderabad. We wish him good luck in his endevour.

Tom Wooning visit Daily Dump
18.11.2009 to 4.12.2009

We had Tom Wooning a Marketing Consultant come to Daily Dump to help us grow the market.

An organisation called Share People (http://www.sharepeople.nl/en/index.phtml) in Netherlands makes this kind of support possible for small companies in emerging economies.

Tom conducted many sessions with the team and also visited the outlets, studied the market and our company processes. While doing this, he joked, discussed, provoked and planned how we could implement some of the ideas that emerged.

The whole experience was energizing for the team and we emerged with a plan and some priorities for the next 6 months.

Thanks Tom and now that Tom is voted as our Marketing Guru, we hope that we will see him and his wife back soon.

Composting - Using Kambha:MeeraRajesh's photo album

" I do not want to ever stop using Khambha composting ", says Meera, a daily Dump customer. She achieves her goal of zero waste by composting the wet waste in a Kambha and selling off the dry waste to the recyclers. We are greteful to such customers for joining hands to keep the city clean.

Our products become a family member!
3rd October 2009

We were very touched to see a customer's child draw this picture of his family! Trupti's son Ishan drew this lovely drawing which includes the composter his family and other flats use. This is the kind of identity we hope to create around this product - your family is incomplete without a composter!!!

We have a new clone - Welcome!
1st October 2009

We have a new clone in Chile. We would like to welcome Paola Santoro from Chile who has already made a composter. See the photos and she and her husband are very excited to be part of this process of encouraging people to compost at home. She plans to translate all our communication material into Spanish and since she is a designer herself, it will be great to see the result of that exercise. The Other businesses she is involved with = Organic products for gardening, some plants, home orchards design for small gardens in the city. That is the Kambha they have made and soon the Kambha will have a Chilean name!

Innovative experiment by Panjim Municipality.
August 22nd 2009

http://www.greenessentials.info/?p=99

Ganesh Chaturthi is a very popular and widely celebrated festival in Goa. But the environmental impact of this festival can be very high – the immersion of plaster-of-paris idols, lots of flowers and garlands and so on…

The Corporation of the City of Panjim, along with citizens from the city, came up with the idea of conducting an experiment (in progress now) to encourage people to place their garlands and floral offerings in our Leave-it-Pots instead of putting them into the river. Many little details and sensitivities were considered to encourage the use of these pots (which are composters designed by DailyDump) — and here’s how they finally turned out…

Trupti is in the news for her passion to get people to use cloth bags instead of plastic ones.

Our Product Kambha reaches the streets
20.7.2009

I got a call from a customer in Cochin asking for instructions on how to use the Kambha. Surprised, I asked her where here instruction booklet was. And she said she bought it off the street side vendor. I was thrilled, this was the moment I have been waiting for, and I hope that we will see more of this happen. Our potter Ramkrishnappa is selling directly to his network of street side vendors.

We use Kambha and we are pretty happy with it. We have made a video and shared it through youtube.

Thanks

Poonam

The event was held in Mumbai and the VC's who heard our presentation naturally were unsure on how our business will grow. It was nice to meet people who have all achieved so much in the social impact area.

Fern’s Paradise in Bangalore has 40 homes out of 60 composting using the Daily Dump products
26.1.2009

Evangelist customers Babita Saxena and Anjana Ghosh from this gated community are passionate about waste issues. They convinced their community that it was a good idea to compost at the individual home level and we trained their maintenance staff to keep the composters going. This programme was kicked off on Republic Day at their clubhouse with children making presentations and skits around the theme of waste.

Our Mumbai Clone gets started with pots made in Dharavi Slums
26.1.2009

Dear all

The kambhas are being produced in Mumbai now - finally! And, best of all, the potter is about 20 minutes drive from my home (when there is no traffic!).

He has made moulds for the pots, so the product is more consistent. The production can also be quicker - he can get out 300 kambhas a month.
The lid and rims/handles are made at the wheel.

We went through a 2 month process of making a prototype on the wheel, then the moulds, and an initial version of 10 kambhas that failed because the mud didn't have the right strength. So now the mud is being brought from Gujarat and that is good enough.

After the Mumbai distribution is settled, I would like to find potters and set up clones in the nearby towns Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nashik.

Regards

Anil
